Question, I am feeling my frame for the window may be slightly racked due to settling of house over 30+ years. This is in a room that is never used and yes, I now understand I should have actioned these open, lubricated them and kept an eye on them. Darn. But now, what method would be my best course of repairing for that slight out of square condition ? And, thanks for your consideration to my question 😊

I'm looking for the internal parts such as the plastic piece that keeps breaking. It's at least $150 to buy the set. Idk why they decided to use plastic other than you buying more. I have 4 sliding doors in my living room. Now I'm just putting a wood stick behind the door to lock, only using one door.

I got one of these as a replacement for the Wright 78900 (?), which is pretty close and is said to be its replacement. The shape is rounded, so the window trim piece will need to be radiused to accept the new part. The old Wright part was straight. I filled the resultant gap with some rolled up brown paper and could putty the thing flush. It works great. These are 30 year old Hurd windows that are fine, but just one crank stripped out. I did not find the square style anywhere, but I guess they are available.

Thank you for this video. I had purchased replacement Truth hinges, and the new track didn't have the adjustable stud. I had to reuse my old track. Is there a way to adjust the window without the adjustable stud?

What does a shim do?

My daughter and son-in-law had a problem with one of their casement windows and I sent them the attachment to this video. I was an independent service technician for a major vinyl window manufacturer year ago and that wrench made alot happy homeowners. Otherwise, the only other way, was to replace the hinges, which it would be very costly for the hinges and labor. Your video was a life saver. Thank You!👍

I watched this to primarily know how to take out and put back in the windows. My husband always did this and he passed 3 years ago and I could not remember how to take them out or how to drop them down to clean the outside. I also have one top section and one bottom section on 2 different windows that have cracks and I luckily have 2 complete sets of windows to use as replacements! Thank you!! I believe I can now get this done by myself!

How do I remove the clips from the arms

Is the set screw for the handle proprietary or universal? Do you carry those as well?

That was just showing how fast he could do it. Not a very helpful video for someone trying to do this on their own for the first time.

What exactly does it adjust?? Does it bring the window in or out? Side to side? How do you know when it needs to be adjusted?

I have 8 ~25 year old Caradco all-wood double hung compression windows CAR-057-005-93 where I recently had replaced the broken seal frosty glass with lowE glass by a glass company. During the process several of the clutch shoes' hooks were broke off and the spring retracted (for how long I don't know since we rarely opened these windows - didn't even know they could be cleaned from the inside). As such the sashes are not level at the top and bottom, leave gaps (see outside light) and some sashes fall open or shut. It sure looks like R&R parts are exactly what I need for my windows too. I've looked all over for someone to renew these windows locally, cannot find replacement parts (although I did find the clutch shoes for about $2 each), can't find springs, and jamb liner kits are not available because of supply chain issues (COVID). Couldn't I just buy the shoes and springs (if needed) for the broken parts instead of the entire kit? And are R & R kits still available? Thank you.

It looked good except for 1 thing - there should of been a small (1/8" diameter) bead of clear silicon under the hardware, then attach it. Then a small continuous bead across the sill and hardware (top and sides) and then reattach the wood trim strip. The silicon stops the drafts. Homeowners - do NOT use glue. Also as he showed, use something under the pry bar (I like a thicker 3" wide mud knife vs a thinner 6" wide mud knife that he used) so that you do NOT mar the sill as you are prying the trim strip up. As otherwise you can dimple or scratch the sill and a fussy homeowner WILL insist you repair/replace the sill that you damaged (rightfully so). If the window trim is painted, use a retractable blade knife to to cut the seam between the sill and trim and sides too to separate the 2. Then do the gentle prying. As always - as a professional do it right the 1st time. Same goes for homeowners, as an ounce of prevention is indeed worth a pound of cure, sometimes 5 pounds.

What size wrench are you using? I have tried 3/8 and 7/16...neither worked.
